The best thing I can say about the Apple Watch Series 3 in terms of speed and performance is that I never even think about it. The Series 3 just feels fast all the time. Some things went fast, while others remained slow. The Series 1 was notably faster, but it felt like it was barely hanging on for dear life. Sometimes it would be quick, but that was the exception, not the rule. The Series 0 felt like it didn’t have the hardware resources it needed to do basically everything.

Apple says the Series 3 is 70% faster than the Series 2, which I feel plays out in real world use.

There are plenty of speed comparisons out there, but suffice it to say the difference in speed is massive. Also if you have been dying for LTE or if you’ve just been waiting to buy your first smart watch, now is the time.

The Apple Watch Series 3 is a must-upgrade for anyone with an original Apple Watch and it’s a maybe upgrade if you have a Series 1 or 2. The Apple Watch Series 3 is a marked improvement over last year’s Series 1 and 2, and is basically a whole different product from the 2015 “Series 0” release. With the Series 3 that Apple just released, I’m happy to say there is no asterisk next to my review this year. Yes, the Apple Watch was great for me, but its consistent issues with performance made me put an asterisk on my recommendation. I’m personally a fan, but my reviews have always had to be tempered a bit because of some hardware limitations. I was an early adopter of the original Pebble, and bought an Apple Watch the day it was released. Anyone who reads this site knows I’m a long time smart watch lover.
